Go Beyond for Adventurers
Calling all adventure babes, bros and superstars! We’ve got an itinerary that’s perfect for unleashing your main character energy: You’ll conquer land and water with the activities we’ve mapped out for you. And don’t worry – we know that with hard work comes deserving rewards, so we’ve included opportunities for you to unwind and relax after going beyond in Cayuga County.
So suit up, and let’s GO!
Day One
Upon arriving in the region, get warmed up and put your skills to the test with a round or two of disc golf at Emerson Park. This 18-hole course is a great way to wake up the challenger within, while surrounded by the natural beauty of Cayuga County.
Next, make your way over to the Cayuga County Erie Canal Recreational Trail for a hiking, bicycling, horseback riding or snowmobile adventure. Along your journey, you’ll encounter carved stone locks and aqueducts, including the Centerport Aqueduct, Lock 52 and the Richmond Aqueduct. This trail is part of a network of approximately 300 miles of multi-use trails across upstate New York.
Time to refuel. Stop into Seb’s Green Shutters for a quick bite cooked on the grill or battered and fried. Go for a burger, hot dog or chicken sandwich, or keep it light with a mixed green salad and optional topping of chicken prepared your way. And if you’ve got room for something sweet, enjoy ice cream, a milkshake or a smoothie to top off your meal.
When it comes to resting your head, what’s your pleasure? Will you keep it simple and pitch a tent at a campground? Settle into a motor home and set up shop in an RV parks? Or, do you prefer the conveniences of a hotel, B&B, inn or rental property after a day of muscle-busting adventure?
Whatever you decide, don’t get too comfortable – because you’ve got one more mission before the day is through:
You’re going bow fishing with Frontenac Fowlers! Experience an adventure like never before as you head with an expert guide for a four-hour bow fishing expedition. You’ll tap into your inner Hawkeye, Katniss or Legolas as you cast your bow’s arrow into the water to retrieve the fish from the waters below you.
Day Two
We hope you’re well-rested, because the adventure continues on day two! Turn on your favorite playlist and make your way to the waters of Fair Haven.
Your morning starts with breakfast at Village Grill of Fair Haven, home to freshly brewed coffee and breakfast options that are great for fueling your day ahead, such as omelets, oatmeal, or breakfast sandwiches and burritos.
Time to put that upper body through a workout! Your Go Beyond experience continues as you hit the water with Fair Haven Kayak. Take it just as rapidly or steady as you’d like as you coast the waters of Little Sodus Bay.
Optional Activity:
Don’t let the watersports don’t end there: It’s time to explore the waters of the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario – under the water, that is! If you are already trained in scuba diving, grab your gear and conquer a lake dive. Be sure to check out Finger Lakes Scuba for anything you may have forgotten, and to get insight into the best local diving spots. If you don’t already know how to dive but are staying in town for an extended period, check out the amazing scuba trainings that Finger Lakes Scuba offers!
When you’re all splashed out, give yourself some time to freshen up at your lodging before making your way to lunch at the Auburn Downtown Deli. Whether you need some carb intake with a sandwich or sub, want to keep it lighter with a salad, or are in the mood for smaller bites or sides like boneless wings or chili mac, this deli is serving up great flavor that will satisfy your taste buds.
You’re probably already giving yourself a pat on the back for everything you’ve conquered during your Go Beyond experiences – and you definitely deserve it! You also deserve to relax, unwind and experience some of the best wines, ciders and brews that the Finger Lakes region has to offer. Browse our directory of wineries, cideries and breweries and start your post-adventure relaxation.
To cap off your second day of adventure, we invite you to enjoy dinner at Osteria Salina – an Italian restaurant home to wood-fired cuisine. You can’t go wrong with their exquisite selection of pastas, pizza and calzones, savory appetizers and satisfying desserts – so go with whichever option that speaks to you!
Day Three
As you awaken on your final day in Cayuga County, give yourself a good stretch and deep, filling breaths – this is a day of pure relaxation!
Check out of your lodging and indulge in breakfast from At Long Last. From benedicts, breakfast sandwiches and hash, to parfaits, scrambles and waffles – you’ll find exactly what you (and your belly) are craving.
We mentioned that this is a day of pure relaxation, and we totally mean it – it’s a day to treat yourself to the ultimate wellness experience, whatever that may look like for you. If a spa treatment (or two…or three – we support it!) sounds good, go for it. If a fitness or gentle yoga class is what you need, we’ve got you covered. If you want to pamper yourself with a new hairdo, skincare treatment, or manicure or pedicure, you won’t be hard-pressed to find professionals ready to serve.
